Four Surprising Ways to Cook Breakfast Cure

Though we typically talk to our customers about cooking Breakfast Cure in a 1.5 to 2 quart slow cooker, one of the more common questions we get is: what if I don’t have a slow cooker? Are there other ways to cook Breakfast Cure? Yes! Here are four surprising ways to cook Breakfast Cure.

We get it – there are already so many kitchen appliances

and only so many places to store them! Additionally, if you are new to Breakfast Cure, maybe you just want to try a package or two before you commit to (another) kitchen gadget. Breakfast Cure is designed to be the fastest and easiest homemade meal possible, and that goes for the cooking method as well! We don’t want you to have to run out and buy a new crockpot if it’s not necessary, so we chatted with our Breakfast Cure community to learn more about the ways they like to cook our recipes. What we learned was surprising! Here are four ways to cook Breakfast Cure in addition to the standard 1.5 – 2 quart slow cooker:

Four Surprising Ways to Cook Breakfast Cure

The Four Surprising Ways to Cook Breakfast Cure

1. Standard Instant Pot

Mary only had a large crockpot and an instant pot. The large crockpot isn’t ideal for Breakfast Cure because it tends to dry out too quickly. She found, however, that the Instant Pot was perfect! She says: “The instant pot doesn’t lose much moisture even when vented, so 3 cups of water are plenty. The slow cook low temp setting overnight didn’t complete the cooking, but we tried the slow cook normal temp setting and it was perfect!”

2. Instant Pot with a Glass Lid

Cindy uses a 6-quart Instant Pot on the Slow Cooker Low setting for 12 hours with the Instant Pot glass lid. She writes: “When I first began making Breakfast Cure, I checked several times with a Thermapen and the temp runs about 173 degrees so it is perfect. I start it in the evening just after dinner and usually give it a couple of quick stirs before I go to bed and again in the morning when I get up.” Sounds easy to us!

3. Zojirushi NS-LHCO5 Rice Cooker

Does your rice maker have a porridge setting?  Kiyoko uses her rice cooker to make Breakfast Cure! This is another easy way to cook your Breakfast Cure. Simply add the recommended amount of water (or Kiyoko likes milk to make it extra cream!), set it to “porridge”, and wake up to a warm, homemade breakfast without any prepping or shopping.

4. Stovetop Method

This traditional method is not as quick and easy as the others but is perfect for trying Breakfast Cure with no appliance at all. The key is picking the right flavors. Selecting recipes that are white rice will speed things up considerably. Both Mango and Sticky Rice and Masala Chai fit the bill perfectly. If you’d like to go old-school and use a saucepan and stir with a spoon, check out this blog post for detailed instructions.

How do you make your Breakfast Cure? Maybe this is your excuse to dust off that old rice cooker or to pull out the Instant Pot and try one of our recipes! Spring is a great time to add more blueberries to your diet. You can read more about the benefits of blueberries in this article and you can try one of our recipes that incorporates organic, Oregon-grown blueberries like Coconut Blueberry Bliss, Tangled Up in Blueberry, or Triple Berry. Yum!

Hopefully, you found some inspiration from at least one of these four surprising ways to cook Breakfast Cure!
