Kitchari is a traditional dish enjoyed in India for centuries as a gentle yet nourishing food for the body and soul. Kitchari balances the three constitutional types, or doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.

Brilliantly yellow from turmeric root means this meal is not only beautiful, but it’s also healthy. These special lentils add to the golden glow and provide excellent plant-based fiber and protein. Made with raw, organic coconut butter, this meal feels good on every level.

Delicious by itself, kitchari is wonderful with a wide array of vegetables. Add a handful of chopped seasonal fresh veggies 10-15 minutes before serving. A dollop of plain yogurt and chopped fresh herbs is also divine.

Breakfast Cure is keeping it plant-based so our kitchari features organic coconut cream instead of traditional ghee. Our coconut cream is included in a separate package, allowing you to set it aside and add ghee or another healthy fat.

Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASC, and The Ayurvedic Institute he founded are well respected.  He offers this brief introduction to Ayurvedic medicine and constitutional balance.

“Ayurveda places great emphasis on prevention and encourages the maintenance of health through close attention to balance in one’s life, right thinking, diet, lifestyle, and the use of herbs. Knowledge of Ayurveda enables one to understand how to create this balance of body, mind, and consciousness according to one’s constitution and how to make lifestyle changes to bring about and maintain this balance.”
